Purchase a SunPass Transponder On-Line
SunPass offers two types of SunPass accounts: Personal and Commercial. The transponder cost for each account is the same ($25 plus tax, plus a required $25 minimum initial balance). This means that you can get started with the SunPass Prepaid Toll Program for as little as $50 plus tax.
Personal Accounts can be established on-line, by phone, mail, fax, or in person at the Customer Service Center in Boca Raton. Commercial Accounts can only be opened by mail, fax, or in person at the Customer Service Center in Boca Raton. (Note: Transponders purchased on-line or at retail outlets cannot be used with a Commercial Account.)
Personal Accounts
With Personal Accounts, each transponder maintains its own balance. These accounts are established for use primarily with two-axle vehicles, although infrequent use with a boat or trailer is permitted. Extra axle charges are not deducted immediately from the transponder balance, so adjustments can take at least one day after the original transaction.
Commercial Accounts
Commercial Accounts are necessary for a fleet of vehicles, or when multiple-axle (3+ axles) vehicles are used frequently. For these accounts, transponders do not maintain individual balances. Instead, all transponders under a Commercial Account draw from one pool of money. When using commercial transponders, extra axle charges are deducted immediately.

Purchase by Mail
You may establish an account and purchase transponders by mail. Just download and print the appropriate application (Personal or Commercial) and enclose a check, money order or credit card information for transponder purchase and initial replenishment. Please make checks payable to: Florida Department of Transportation.

You will receive an activated SunPass transponder within 3-5 business days from the date we receive your check/money order and completed application form.
Purchase by Fax
You may establish an account and purchase transponders by fax. Just download and print the appropriate application (Personal or Commercial) and include your credit card information for transponder purchase and replenishment. Please fax the completed application to (888) 265-1725.
